Paris: Day 4; Balenciaga/Comme des Garcons exhibition

Today, we went to a Balenciaga exhibition where we saw some old gowns, coats, shoes and accessories dating as far back as the 1770's (!!!). It was amazing to see how similar some of the fashion is still today. Saw a pair of heels that look like the Miu Miu mules that are in now and saw a pair of heels from the 1770's with straps starting from the tip of the foot up to over the ankle and they reminded me so much of the new Alexander Wang Nadia heels - insane.
Then moved on the the Comme des Garcons exhibition. Not really sure what it was but the concept was incredible - very minimalist, futuristic. The colour palette consisted only of white apart from some pastel details here and there and the odd black splash of colour. All the mannequins were in plastic bubbles in the room. It was quite intense. The mannequins didn't have faces and some of the hoods were small, with a little gap and no face beneath, creating a very eerie vibe. Also, notice the KKK look-alike hoodies? Very scary. Loved the dresses and skirts - they were very full and rounded, with strange shapes and with large hems. It was so interesting and we had a great day. Spent the rest of the day shopping in a street market in St Germain before grabbing a quick lunch near Notre Dame. Last stop was back in class for some final lectures before leaving to explore the streets of Paris once more.

I wore Zara top to toe apart from my Balenciaga bag and Supre cardigan. Also bought two fedora hats today - pictures tomorrow. xxx
